Sensational Sonam Kapoor by Imagine Showbiz Go Back

Sonam Kapoor made a remarkable entry into Bollywood with 'Saawariya'. Her girl-next-door image found favor among the audience and her co-star Ranbir Kapoor cashed in on his success and went on a signing spree. While, Ranbir's second film 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' is declared a hit, Sonam Kapoor had almost vanished from tinsel town.

Few debutants in Bollywood are lucky to have tasted success with their very first film. Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor are some of the very few actors, who met success with their first films. Even though 'Saawariya' got an average response at the box office, Sonam considers herself to be lucky.

Sonam says, “Haan, main lucky hoon. Mera naam Sonam ka matlab hain ‘lucky’.”

Sonam seem to have vanished post 'Saawariya'. On one hand Ranbir and Deepika were making headlines and on the other hand, Sonam seemed miles away from tinsel town. So, where was Sonam all this while?

Sonam on her absence, “Saawariya released in November and meri second film ki shooting start hui December mein. Kabhi Delhi, toh kabhi Jaipur. Time hi nahi mila parties ya functions attend karne ka. Waise bhi I don't like to attend parties too much. I attend parties with my friends who are not celebrities.”

Sonam is in fact a lucky girl, since she got the chance to work with illustrious directors. She worked with the talented Sanjay Leela Bhansali in her first film. And in her second film 'Dilli 6', she will be working with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

Sonam Kapoor, “Bahut hi accha experience tha. First film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and then with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. I am indeed a lucky girl.”

'Dilli 6' will be an instrumental film for Sonam, since it will decide her fate in Bollywood. She will also be starring opposite Abhishek Bachchan in this film and acting with him was a unique experience for Sonam.

Sonam Kapoor on her experience of shooting with Abhishek, “It was a good experience. But I will talk more about it later, nearer to the release date.”

'Dilli 6' is Sonam's second film after 'Saawariya'. There is almost a year's gap between the two films, but Sonam is not affected by this and she is keen on doing quality films rather than focusing on quantity.

Sonam Kapoor on her choice of films, “I want to do films for which I will be remembered. Main agar dus films bhi karu dus saalo mein toh theek hain. When I look back, I should be able to proudly say that I was a part of these films.”

Sonam is very proud of her father, Anil Kapoor, who is getting better by the day. Considering his evergreen looks, she does not even look like his daughter.

Sonam Kapoor, “Yeah it is a compliment for him, lekin mere liye, main kya itni bhudi lagti hoon.”

Let's just hope that with 'Dilli 6', Sonam manages to carve a place for herself in Bollywood.
