Dusky beauty; Chitrangada Singh is all set to make a comeback in the film industry, with the movie; ‘Sorry Bhai’. She was missed by the audiences after her performance in her first film; ‘Haazaron Kwaishein Aisi; wherein the audiences were not only impressed by her pretty face, but also her acting skills. But soon after that, she got married and took a break from her acting career. But now with Onir directed, ‘Sorry Bhai’ co-starring with Sanjay Suri and Sharman Joshi, she looks as beautiful as ever and is all ready to set the screen on fire.
When asked about the film, she said, “My character is called Aaliya in the film, who is a very ordinary girl in a relationship with a guy since 5 years. Since, they have been in a relationship for so long, marriage is on the cards, but somehow she is not convinced & is unsure with her decision to get married. And this doubt further is cemented after she meets the younger brother of her lover and falls for him. Aaliya as a character is very honest and upfront in her approach to life, and is hurt because she has hurt other people, when she agrees to the fact that she has grown out of love. But she takes a firm decision of being honest about the fact that she has grown out of love instead denying it and pretending that everything is alright. I admire that about the character that I am playing in the film.”
With this film releasing soon, the adage of ‘Saali Hoti Hain Gharwali’ is soon to be changed to ‘Dewar Hot Hain Adha Gharwala’.
On which, she comments, “I guess you can say that. Till now, men have always been coining all the phrases, so this time around, a woman is doing so. These things happen in real life and to ordinary people. So, I think it is very much valid to make a movie on this.”
Most of the actresses bid farewell to their acting careers after they get married. Even if they don’t quit acting, they are offered roles of a ‘maa’ or a ‘bhabhi’. So, in this case she can be considered to be very lucky to be chosen as a main lead in the movie, even after having a kid.
On which she says, “I think times have changed a lot. If a black man can become the President of America, it is a sign that the times have changed. We live in a modern society & the audiences are no more looking for a virgin looking woman as a heroine. Their tastes and preferences have evolved and they are open to accept the truth. The concept of a woman getting married to start a family and staying at home with the kids is no longer a norm. I am happy about the fact that the audience is maturing and so is the industry.”
The audiences have not only accepted her with open arms, but also have been comparing her looks with the legendary actress; Smitha Patil. When we asked her about this comparison, she replied, “I have a lot of gratitude and am very thankful to them. It is a very nice feeling and lots of people share a very warm and affectionate feeling with me, because she is no more with us. It is a great feeling, but with the name comes expectations, because she had achieved a lot and was far ahead of her times. It will take a long time for me to reach her level. I am just 3 films old, and I hope that I don’t disappoint the audiences.”
It is very tough to manage and maintain a balance between professional life and married life, on which she comments, “So many working women manage their house, their kids and their office. In fact, their job is tougher than mine, because they have to report to a boss every morning at 9 am, which thankfully I don’t have to. I intend taking up more work, but only that much of work, that I will be able to manage with my married life.”
We surely hope that this dusky beauty will be seen in more movies, aptly displaying her acting prowess in coming times. Here’s wishing her all the luck for the future. |
